Longtime Rice supporter Audrey Moody Ley dies

A memorial service for Ley will be held at 2 p.m. Friday, March 9, at St. Luke’s United Methodist Church, 3471 Westheimer Road. Prior to the service, the family will have gathered for a private interment at Houston’s Memorial Oaks Cemetery.

    Audrey Moody Ley, the namesake of several places and facilities at Rice, died March 4. She was 103. A 1935 Rice alumna who earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in history, Ley and her husband, Rice alum Wendel Ley '32, were longtime supporters of the university, as evidenced by the Ley Student Center, the Audrey Moody Ley Plaza, the Wendel D.
