    Houston Mayor Sylvester Turner says he directed the Public Works Department to repaint the city's Pride Crosswalks. "I'm glad this project is moving quickly and I hope people will enjoy seeing the revitalized Pride Crosswalk[s] at Westheimer and Taft," Turner told OutSmart in a statement Monday, June 11.

According to police, the incident occurred around 8:00 p.m. Sunday in the 2500 block of Hopkins Street at Hyde Park.

    HOUSTON- The Houston Police Department is investigating the shooting of a man in south Houston. According to police, the incident occurred around 8:00 p.m. Sunday in the 2500 block of Hopkins Street at Hyde Park. Witnesses told police they first heard arguing and yelling, followed by gunshots.

Lyndon Baines Johnson statue coming soon to downtown Houston

Johnson came to live in Houston's Montrose district in 1930 when he took at job teaching public speaking at Sam Houston High School. The home at 435 Hawthorne where Johnson once lived as a boarder is still there, all these years later.
