Grace School (10219 Ella Lee Ln) Comment
This review is not a reflection of the WONDERFUL teachers in the 2's and 3's program, who work hard every day to provide a stern, yet loving classroom for all the kids to learn and enjoy. We chose Grace for the warm environment, and most of the people you will encounter at Grace, from the receptionist to the janitor, are helpful and cheerful. However, we miss the nurse and former admissions director, who helped us feel safe in dropping off our kiddo at her first school. This is not true of the current administration. Nicole, the current admissions director, has made us want to leave on more than one occasion. When my husband began out-of-town interviews, I called and left a message inquiring how the school handles student moves. Upon calling me, she cut me off, and gruffly asked, "Have you read the contract? I'll wait for you to pull it up." Most other admissions directors probably would have said something along the lines of "We'd be sorry to see [insert kid] go, but if s/he has to leave, our school policy is XYZ." She insisted on pointing out the exact fine print, which felt like she was belittling me--as if saying, "See? Can you not read?" While I can [and do] read fine print, I called simply to get an "insider" point of view--how has your school handled situations like this in the past, do you think putting down a $1,000 deposit (nonrefundable) is necessary to hold my spot in case we do have to move, etc. Nicole doesn't speak to all parents in this manner; I heard her tell another parent that she would do everything she could to accommodate their family of siblings. This is in direct contrast to what she has said to some of my friends. However, this is not even the most egregious error that I've encountered while at Grace. Explicitly refusing to have my daughter posted on any of their promotional materials & social media (and despite several calls asking if I would change my mind), I happened to check their Twitter one day and saw my child on the Grace School's official Twitter. This was totally illegal, and when I emailed the Primary School Director, Maria Barrington, her first response was not to apologize; instead, she said they checked the form first to confirm that I had indeed refused to allow her image to be posted. It felt like she was trying to pull a "Gotcha!" moment, rather than owning the mistake.
