Limb amputation sounds like a scary thing. But for cats and dogs with debilitating and painful disease or trauma to the leg, amputation can sometimes be the best decision for quality of life and pain relief. Dexter the Labrador retriever was shot in the head more than once, and a good Samaritan brought him to our BluePearl hospital in Brandon. While it appears the bullets missed his brain, he will need oral surgery to repair jaw damage and begin his journey to recovery. Dexter is getting excellent care by BluePearl clinicians, and rescuers with Labrador Retriever Rescue of Florida are working to find him a new home.
