Happy New Year Northside! Each year the University of Houston Downtown takes part in GatorServe, an annual day of “volunteer service performed by University of Houston-Downtown students, staff, faculty, alumni and friends and family. Volunteers gather together on Martin Luther King Jr. Day to serve community members, organizations and small businesses by performing small tasks. This year UHD has chosen to primarily focus their efforts in the Near Northside. GatorServe is looking for both volunteer and project opportunities. The following links provide ways to sign up for both. Stroller here so just plodding for me but as we reach toward the end of the year and parking downtown is damaged as well as theaters makes me wonder if this is not an opportunity to look at building points of light along North Main, Airline, Fulton and Irvington.
