Happy New Year Northside! Each year the University of Houston Downtown takes part in GatorServe, an annual day of “volunteer service performed by University of Houston-Downtown students, staff, faculty, alumni and friends and family. Volunteers gather together on Martin Luther King Jr. Day to serve community members, organizations and small businesses by performing small tasks. This year UHD has chosen to primarily focus their efforts in the Near Northside. GatorServe is looking for both volunteer and project opportunities. The following links provide ways to sign up for both. There are some qualifications so be sure to review the details on the sign-up pages. • Sign up to volunteer for GatorServe: https://uhdforms.formstack.com/forms/mlk_day_2018 • Request a project be completed with GatorServe: https://uhdforms.formstack.com/forms/gatorserves_homeowner_request_form Please share the links with community members and businesses for both projects and volunteer opportunities. Volunteers check-in starts at UHD at 8:00 am-8:45 am on January 15, 2018 on the South Deck. Projects are expected to last till 1:00 pm and a picnic-style lunch will be served from 1:00 pm-2:00 pm for volunteers. This is a great way to serve residents in the Near Northside. Should you have any questions about the event please contact UHD coordinator Krysti Turnquest at email@example.com
